Fairmont Ford is the 4th oldest Ford dealership in the nation, and has been in business since 1909. The Kloeckner family has been working in the dealership since 1927.
In 1927, Claus Kloeckner an immigrant from Germany, joined Park Motors as Office Manager. He soon became General Manager and eventually became one of the Owners. The company took its name, Park Motor Company, Inc., as a result of its location on Park Street and, although previous dealership names carried the managers name, people had trouble both spelling and pronouncing Kloeckner.
The 1950's ushered in major changes for Park Motor, primarily due to a fire. The November 3, 1952, edition of the Fairmont Daily Sentinel reported the Park Motor fire losses were estimated to be $200,000, the greatest in Fairmont's history up to that time. In 1953, construction began on their new building at 700 East Blue Earth Avenue. They reopened for business at that location in 1954. In 1956, Robert Kloeckner became the second generation of Kloeckners to work at the dealership. He started off selling cars, and eventually moved into the General Manager/Owner position. Bob still shows up to work, when he is in town, to meet and greet customers.
As the years went by, the third generation of Kloeckners became involved with the business. David Kloeckner joined Park Motor full-time in 1979 and James Kloeckner began working full-time with Park Motor Company in 1990. David started in sales before progressing to Sales Manager followed by his current role today as Dealer Principal. James started in F&I before moving to a Salesman, his current role is Sales Manager.
Â
The 2000s ushered in major change again, in 2003, Park Motor Company changed its name to Fairmont Ford, and the dealership went through an extensive remodeling and renovation project. In 2009 Fairmont Ford celebrate 100 years of business.  Ford Vice President James Farley flew in for the celebration.
Â
Now the work begins on the next 100 years. The 4th generation has moved back home and started working at Fairmont Ford. In 2012 Paul Kloeckner came back to work, he now sells cars full time. Teresa (Kloeckner) Haycraft moved back home in 2014 and now helps manage special projects and day to day operation of the dealership.Â
